Pro-Life Group Condemns Recent Secret Meeting of Pro-Abortion Billionaires Club

New York, NY (LifeNews.com) — A top pro-life group that focuses on international issues is condemning a recent meeting of some of the richest people in the world. The groups of billionaires met secretly in New York and agreed to promote population control as their collective charitable cause in the coming years.

Prompted by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, they adopted reducing the world’s population as the main issue to put their money behind.

Austin Ruse, the president of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, is upset by the meeting.

“These fabulously wealthy people with their grand houses, private jets, yachts and lavish lifestyles decided to pool their massive resources and declare war on the world’s poor by spending billions of dollars on population control,” he said in an email LifeNews.com received.

Ruse said he wasn’t surprised that the participants are targeting the world with population control, which will involve promoting abortion.

“Ted Turner is a long time supporter of forcing poor countries to support abortion and population control. David Rockefeller is one of the founders of the modern population control movement and through his Rockefeller Foundation has paid billions for it,” he explained.

Ruse said the billionaires are apparently not aware of the severe underpopulation problem that is currently plaguing the world.

Nations like Japan, Russia, Canada and parts of Europe are facing severe population shortages that are resulting in fewer workers and little economic and social support for an aging population.

He questioned “whether these guys have gotten the news that the big population problem in the world today is not rapidly growing populations but rather the ‘graying of the population’ precisely because of UN style population control programs.”

He said the United Nations will likely work together with the pro-abortion billionaires, “as there is renewed spending on these issues and that the UN is back into the population control business.”

“The UN and the billionaire boys club will not stop. They will not stop until abortion is the law of the world. They will not stop until they have imposed population control on every single man, woman and child in the world,” Ruse said in the email to LifeNews.com.

He called on pro-life advocates in nations across the world to be aware of the situation and the coming attacks the billionaires will fund.

“We cannot allow David Rockefeller, George Soros and Ted Turner along with the UN to target poor counties. We cannot allow them to spread abortion around the world,” he said.

May 26, 2009

Dear Friends, Tuesday President Barack Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor to a vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court, replacing retiring Justice David Souter. As this nomination moves forward, much will be said and written about Sotomayor, who currently sits on the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. Will she decide cases based on the law and sound precedent, or is she a judge who will use cases as an opportunity to impose her personal views on the nation – with no right of appeal for us, the American people?

During a 2005 panel discussion at the Duke University Law School, Sotomayor stated that the “Court of Appeals is where policy is made.” With all due respect, the American public wants judges who interpret the law and do not act as life-tenured, judicially empowered social engineers. President Obama promised us a jurist committed to the “rule of law,” not a legislator with a lifetime appointment to remake public policy.

Contact your two senators today and urge them not to rush to judgment on Sotomayor or approve her based on her biography. Ask the Senate to use the hearing process to examine both her public record and her public comments. The court term for 2009-2010 does not begin until early October, so there is no need to push for immediate hearings. The Senate must take the time to ask the tough questions, fully examine the nominee’s record, and protect our Constitution.

Thank you and God bless you.

Sincerely,

Tony Perkins
President

P.S. Please forward this email to friends and family and urge them to contact their two U.S. Senators as well.

Planned Parenthood Seeks Injunction

From a KELO  and “Argus Leader” news articles ,  Planned Parenthood attorneys have asked for a federal court injunction to stop the state of South Dakota from imposing sanctions over the requirements in the 2005 law that makes doctors tell women seeking abortions that the procedure ends a human life.

According to court documents, the state Health Department said Planned Parenthood could be sanctioned if it doesn’t use a state-approved disclosure form.

“Any abortion facility violating any of the provisions of (state law) places its abortion facility license at risk for suspension or revocation,”  Anthony, Nelson, administrator of the state Office of Data, Statistics, and Vital Records, said in an e-mail.

North Dakota Governor Hoeven Signs Pro-Life Bills on Abortion, Ultrasound

by Steven Ertelt

May 12, 2009

Fargo, ND (LifeNews.com) — North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven has signed a couple of pro-life bills into law, including one that would allow mothers to see an ultrasound of their unborn child prior to an abortion.

The other measure requires the lone abortion center in the state to tell women considering an abortion that it will destroy the life of an unborn child, a unique human being.

The state House easily approved the ultrasound measure, House Bill 1371, on a strongly bipartisan 77-9 vote in February and the Senate signed off on the bill in April.

The measure is designed to help women learn the humanity of their unborn child and to consider abortion alternatives.

While most abortion businesses do an ultrasound before an abortion is done on a woman and her unborn child, that doesn’t mean the mother will have a chance to see it. Rep. Bette Grande, a Republican sponsoring House Bill 1371, hopes the bill changes that.

Her legislation would offer women a chance to see an ultrasound in the same way she would be able to see an x-ray prior to other medical procedures.

The other measure, HB 1445, is an informed consent bill that requires the abortion practitioner to tell women that “the abortion will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being.”

North Dakota Right to Life, the North Dakota affiliate of Concerned Women for America and the North Dakota Catholic Conference supported the bills along with the North Dakota Family Alliance.

“We are very proud to share some successes in the sanctity of life legislative arena. And we are very confident these successes will translate into saving unborn lives,” NDFA director Tom Freier told LifeNews.com.

Pro-life advocates say the bills are important because the Red River Women’s Clinic is expected to set a record for the number of abortions it is doing annually.

The abortion center has been doing abortions for just over ten years and did a record 1,358 abortions in 2003 and another 1,238 abortions last year.

New Pro-Life Ad Focusing on Adoption, Abortion to Air on American Idol Finale

by Steven Ertelt

May 12, 2009

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — The same pro-life organization that produced a well-received advertisement on President Barack Obama and abortion has another commercial it will air on the series finale of the popular television program American Idol.

CatholicVote.org, sponsored by the pro-life Catholic group Fidelis, is behind the ad, which is part of its “Imagine the Potential” series of television commercials.

The latest ad focuses on the lives of political and business leaders, sports figures, and others who all could have become victims of abortion, but, instead, were welcomed into loving families via adoption.

The ad includes a song and picture of icons such as John Lennon, Nelson Mandela, Nancy Reagan, Steve Jobs, Faith Hill, Jesse Jackson, Willie Nelson and others.

Professionally produced, the television ad features no voice-over, and the music plays the images of the notable public figures are revealed. It concludes with the tag line, “Life, Imagine the Potential.”

Fidelis unveiled information about the new ad at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast on Friday and indicated it has “initial acceptance” for broadcast on the closing episode of American Idol, on the Fox network.

The goal of the ad is to reach the “mushy middle” of Americans who may oppose abortion but are lukewarm in their opposition. It will also reach out to Americans who mildly support legal abortions and can be converted to the pro-life position.

“Our goal is to reach the average American–your neighbor next door,” the group said in a recent fundraising letter for the ad. “Radical pro-abortion advocates are not our target audience. And neither is the ‘choir’ who already agree with us.”

“We must go after them in a new and compelling way,” it says.

Ironically, the ad features notables who are pro-abortion in its collection of photos of adoptees, including former President Bill Clinton and musician Sarah McLachlan.

The first Fidelis ad, depicting President Barack Obama as an unborn child and asking what would happen had he been a victim of abortion, was rejected by CNN and NBC prevented it from airing during the Super Bowl.

That ad showed a beautiful picture of an unborn child during an ultrasound and says it would have been a tragedy had Obama been aborted.

Eventually, the group broadcasted the ad on Black Entertainment Television in Chicago during its January coverage of the presidential inauguration.

Battle Over Supreme Court-Abortion Coming Soon, Help LifeNews.com Today!

Dear Pro-Life Friends,

As you have seen from our news reporting over the last two weeks, the battle over the Supreme Court is about to begin.

While pro-abortion Justice David Souter plans to retire, and that is good news for women and unborn children, his replacement could be just as much of an abortion advocate who will keep the infamous Roe v. Wade decision in place for decades more.

You and I both know that that means millions more lives lost, children killed, women injured and hearts broken.

As we have since the early 1990s, LifeNews.com will provide you with the most timely, accurate and comprehensive coverage of this coming battle. We will give you the background of potential nominees, focus on the fights in the U.S. Senate that will impact the debate, and show you what top pro-life groups are doing to represent your voice in the confirmation process.

With Obama’s long pro-abortion record, chances are he will appoint someone who has a clear record advocating abortion. The signs are already appearing that some members of the Senate who might otherwise vote to block such a nominee will not do so.

That means LifeNews.com and the pro-life movement need every bit of your help to prevent a radically pro-abortion nominee from ascending to the highest court in the land.

Below are some ways you can help us keep the pro-life movement informed on this and other key pro-life topics on abortion, human cloning, assisted suicide and other attacks on human life. Please take the time to give us a hand so more people can be informed, involved and save lives.

And on this Mother’s Day, thank you for all you do to support future mothers and the unborn children who deserve the right to live.

Thank you,
Steven Ertelt,

Undercover Tape Helps Deny Money To Planned Parenthood In Kansas

May 11, 2009

Topeka, KS – An undercover audio file provided by Operation Rescue was used by legislators to support their efforts to halt tax money to Planned Parenthood in Kansas.

State Sen. Tim Huelskamp and Rep. Lance Kinzer released the recording of a phone call made by an Operation Rescue volunteer posing as a 14-year old girl. The call was placed to Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood, (CHPP), in Overland Park, Kansas, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. During the call, the supposed 14-year old was heard asking about abortion, pregnancy testing, and birth control options.

CHPP: How old are you?
Caller: Um, I’m 14.
CHPP: So, how are you going to get in here?
Caller: Well, I have a boyfriend, and like, he’s 23 and he could take me there.
CHPP: Do you want to make an appointment today?

Later the girl asked if her boyfriend could pick up her birth control pills for her.

Caller: Yeah. About the birth control, um, I’d have to ask my boyfriend to get that for me. Um, would he be able to pick it up?
CHPP: Yes, uh-huh.

After the recording was made public, the Huelskamp Amendment to the state budget, which would redirect Title X money to hospitals and other legitimate medical facilities, passed easily in both houses. This would have the effect of defunding Planned Parenthood in Kansas. The budget now awaits the signature of the new governor, Mark Parkinson, who holds line-item veto power.

“Planned Parenthood was not only willing to look the other way, but was going to hand birth control pills over to an adult so he could conceal his continued sexual abuse of a little girl. Most taxpayers would be very upset to know their tax money was funding that,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “This is the same Planned Parenthood office that is facing 107 criminal charges. This recording illustrates why those criminal charges should proceed and why public money should be used elsewhere.”

A hearing in the pending criminal case is scheduled before the Kansas Supreme Court on Wednesday.

In the past two fiscal years, Kansas has paid out $550,000 in tax money to Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri, according to Rep. Kinzer.

“Planned Parenthood was caught red-handed yet again ignoring child sex abuse, as it has been by other pro-life investigators around the nation,” said Newman. “This will be Gov. Parkinson’s first test on moral issues. Will he continue to endanger our daughters, or will he do the right thing and sign the budget with the Huelskamp Amendment intact? We’ll know in a few days.”

Stem Cell Research Alert

On March 9, President Obama issued an Executive Order overturning President Bush’s stem cell research funding policies. On April 23, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) published draft guidelines implementing the Obama directive. The public has until May 26 to submit comments.

In response to the NIH draft guidelines, Reps. Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Michael Castle (R-DE) said they intend to move forward with legislation that goes beyond the guidelines.

We urge you to (1) send messages to Congress opposing any legislation promoting destructive embryonic stem cell research and (2) send comments to NIH on the draft guidelines.

You can contact our US Senators and Representatives through their webmail sites found on the Contact Public Officials Page of the CAN Website, or you can use the NCHLA Grassroots Action Center at: http://www.nchla.org/stemcell.

On the NCHLA site, you are first directed to send e-mails to your U.S. Representative and U.S. Senators, then directed to go to the NIH web form, where your name and a prepared pro-life message will automatically be inserted for you. Before submitting personal comments, you must complete a simple “Security Check” (fill in a random set of four provided numbers). Personal comments can be added to both messages.

For more detailed information on the NCHLA Action Alert, please visit: http://www.nchla.org/actiondisplay.asp?ID=272. In addition, the USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities has prepared a special stem cell page on their web site. See “Oppose Destructive Stem Cell Research,” at: http://www.usccb.org/stemcellcampaign. Links to the NCHLA information are also available on the USCCB web site. Following is the USCCB Press Release:

BISHOPS URGE CATHOLICS TO CONTACT CONGRESS AND NIH: OPPOSE DESTRUCTIVE STEM CELL RESEARCH

WASHINGTON—The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) launched a new “Oppose Destructive Stem Cell Research” campaign today, equipping citizens to contact Congress and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to oppose embryonic stem cell research and support ethical cures and treatments “we can all live with.” The campaign is facilitated by the USCCB’s partner organization, the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment.

Following President Obama’s March 9 executive order, the NIH proposed guidelines for federally funded research that will require destroying live human embryos for their stem cells. The draft guidelines are open for public comment through May 26.

The campaign homepage, http://www.usccb.org/stemcellcampaign, summarizes why the proposed guidelines are unacceptable, provides links to USCCB resources (including the bishops’ statement “On Embryonic Stem Cell Research” and multi-media resources and ads), and encourages web users to “Contact Congress & NIH Now” through an e-mail interface. Several resources are available in both English and Spanish.

The campaign site explains that the NIH guidelines “would—for the first time—use taxpayer funds to encourage the killing of embryonic human beings for their stem cells.” It continues, “Embryonic stem cell research treats innocent human beings as mere sources of body parts, as commodities for our use.”

The webpage features a video of Cardinal Justin Rigali, chairman of the bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, critiquing the draft guidelines.

“The Catholic bishops of the United States will be writing to Congress and the Administration about the need to restore and maintain barriers against the mistreatment of human life in the name of science, and we urge other concerned citizens to do the same,” Cardinal Rigali said.

Catholics and other citizens are urged to contact both NIH and Congress because members of Congress and the Administration have expressed interest in pursuing an even broader policy. “They want to obtain stem cells by destroying human embryos specially generated for research through in vitro fertilization (IVF) or cloning procedures – a ‘create to kill’ policy,” the campaign page explains.

Those who want to call for stem cell research and cures “we can all live with” may speak out by visiting http://www.usccb.org/stemcellcampaign and clicking on “Contact Congress & NIH Now.”
