Unethical Spending

Recently, Planned Parenthood hosted a congressional forum featuring actress Kate Walsh as a speaker about reproductive health. A free lunch was used as an enticement for congressional members to attend the forum. Each year, Planned Parenthood receives over $300 million from taxpayer funds. Under current ethics rules, it is illegal for nonprofit organizations to provide meals to congressional members or staff. Why is it acceptable for Planned Parenthood, a “nonprofit” organization, to violate government regulations? Considering the recent scandals associated with Planned Parenthood, perhaps Capital Hill should stop promoting (and start investigating!) the group.
