Encouraging Thoughts

My name is Leslee Unruh, the Executive Director of the campaign. I’m excited to bring you some of my thoughts to encourage you throughout this historic time for South Dakota’s unborn children.

We feel that it is better to debate an issue without settling it rather than to settle it without debating it. South Dakota gets the chance to debate this issue and we think that unborn children are worthy of the debate. The pro-abortion activists have an agenda to do everything they can to end the debate. They want to settle this issue of making abortion a fundamental right once and for all. They want to engrain it in the Constitution so nobody will ever be able to challenge their false dogma. While all eyes are watching the Presidential race, God’s eyes are on South Dakota–a place where His people are standing up and not waiting for the right politician to come along.

Those of us who know and understand the truth do not have modest goals. When human life is at stake, silence is agreement. Silence is not golden, it’s yellow! We now have the means, the methods and the determination to achieve our goals to obtain freedom for women and the unborn.

Hubert Humphrey once said, “The impersonal hand of government can never replace the helping hand of a neighbor.” That’s why “we the people” must speak up. That’s why, for 24 years, pregnancy centers like the Alpha Center have been there. That’s why the Truth 4 Youth program goes into schools and teaches sexual integrity to prevent crisis pregnancies. At the Alpha Center and the National Abstinence Clearinghouse, we have worked for many years to prevent pregnancies through teaching abstinence education and incremental legislation. Still the killing continues.

Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all of God’s children. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of injustice against the unborn to the solid rock of brotherhood. We need your help as volunteers and/or financial donors for the campaign. Donations can be made online at

The glory of the Lord shall be revealed. With faith we will work together, pray together, struggle together, cry together, and go the distance together whatever the cost. With faith we will stand up for freedom, knowing with full assurance that the unborn will one day be free.

So let freedom ring from the mountain top of Mount Rushmore to the fruited plains. Let the heartland change the hearts of America. Let all who consider us a fly over state, see a beacon of light from people who have great faith.

Defender of HIS Unborn
